Our Expectations

We breed dogs for hunting performance first and household manners. In order to get the most out of a Deutsch Drahthaar, you must be willing to put in time and commitment. All dogs must go to hunting homes. Buyers that are committed to testing their puppies will receive first priority.

As we have been first time handlers, we understand the importance of providing resources to our puppy buyers and are committed to be there for you every step of the way - whether that be through training days, phone calls, meeting at our house for a quick training session, or connecting you with a peer in your area; we want to see you be successful with your dog. We have learned that when you put the time into these dogs, you will reap the rewards.

Must have a valid hunting license

We do require all potential puppy buyers to show proof they have a valid hunting license. These dogs were bred to hunt, not to sit around in a house or be kenneled their whole lives. If you do not have a hunting license or hunt avidly, we will not consider you for a puppy.

run your dog through the vjp & hzp tests

We are committed to the testing system and would like to see all of our puppies run through at least the VJP & HZP tests. These tests not only help and force the handler to begin training the dog at a young age and to get it to where it should be hunting wise, but it also provides valuable feedback to the breeder so we are able to see areas of improvement, consistency in the dogs, or areas we’d like to replicate in the future. As stated above, buyers willing and committed to testing their puppies through the JGHV testing system, will receive first priority.
